“I’ve not read anything quite like Jikiemi-Pearson’s award-winning debut. At once a meticulous space opera… and a century spanning love story, it heralds a new voice in the genre, and what may be a transformative series for the writer.”

“A sprawling space-opera fantasy… feels like a mashup of Star Wars and Dr Who. There are ancient prophecies, youthful heroes fighting an evil galactic empire, hair’s-breadth escapes and alien races, along with magic and time travel.”

“An assured, mature piece of work, every page nonetheless shines with the vigour and passion of youth. And the foregrounding of black and LGBT characters adds further freshness.”
